My Familiar Stranger Interview & Giveaway!

My Familiar Stranger, The Order of the Black Swan, Book One.
a secret society, hot guys, and vampires ... prepare to fall in love

A secret society, hot guys, and vampires come together for a once in a lifetime adventure and a once in a lifetime opportunity proving that true love can find you in the strangest places, even far, far from home.

Minutes ahead of inevitable assassination, Elora Laiken is forcibly transported to an alternate dimension similar, but not identical, to her own.

Of course a girl could suffer worse problems than having gorgeous suitors. Perhaps more importantly, in the midst of an epidemic of vampire related abductions, can she stay alive long enough to choose between an honor debt, true love, or the breathlessness of single-minded passion?

My Familiar Stranger is a full length, stand alone, Paranormal Romance novel that also sets up the foundation for the Black Swan series. It is loved by fans of paranormal romance, fantasy romance, and urban fantasy.

My review of this fantastic book coming soon! Victoria also agreed to answer a few questions for me! Here they are...

Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself. What do you do for fun?

It will probably sound cliché, but I write for fun. I spent a lot of years working situations that were not fun so I know the difference. I’m also a utility player in a Classic Rock band. That means I play keys, rhythm guitar, sing back ups and a few leads. That’s because Classic Rock is very heavy on the testosterone and not all songs translate well to women singers. As a writer I feel compelled to try to explain the feeling even though I think the task is beyond my ability. When you are with band members who understand each other musically, the experience is nothing less than transcendent.

Q: What do you like most about the genre you write in?
Being able to recreate the world in the image of my imagination didn’t seem godlike until I began getting feedback on this first book and realized that other people are sharing renderings from one of my “otherworlds”.

Q: Where is your favorite place to write?

Probably my home office although I could write anywhere I’m left alone.

Q: What’s your next project?

I’m committed to The Black Swan series. The second book, The Witch’s Dream, is in editing and will be released October 14th. The third and fourth books are in outline stages. I have the titles, but am a little superstitious about sharing too much too early.

I’m a sucker for fans. When people write to say they don’t think they can stand waiting for the next book, it creates a little internal pressure to stay at it. I guess the whole ‘pleaser person’ thing followed me into authoring. For now, seven books are planned, but you never know. Things change in my alter-lives. (True love excluded. Once my characters are in love, that never changes. That’s one of the best things about commanding the keyboard.)

Q: How do you feel about Dr. Pepper?

I’m glad you asked. I grew up about an hour away from where Dr. Pepper was invented and I love it. There’s even a museum! Bet you didn’t know that. In my opinion, they make the only diet version worth drinking though I long for the teenage days when I could swig all I wanted without affecting my figure. (Sigh.)
My heartfelt thanks to Lisa Rayns for having me and for all her effort promoting this marvelous genre. Authors and readers depend on outlets such as this to connect. Keep up the good work!

So true & happy to find more Dr. Pepper fans. Thanks for stopping by Victoria & best of luck with this series!
Now for the Giveaway! Everyone can be a winner!
Runs July 13th-17th.

GIVEAWAY QUESTION: “Since the ancient Greeks, and probably since we became sentient, men have been asking the question, ‘What do women want?’ I think I know what the answer is – at least for a lot of us - and it’s related to why Paranormal Romance is so popular with women and so satisfying to the core in a way no other genre can be. Before I began writing for this audience, I read about two hundred PNR books and realized that there is one element common to almost all and that it can only be expressed in a fantasy world. Can you guess what it is?” (NOTE: You don’t have to match my answer to win. I’m always interested to hear what other PNR fans think.)

GIVEAWAY: An ecopy of My Familiar Stranger.

Victoria will giveaway a copy to anyone who leaves a comment with a thoughtful answer! (Please leave your email address so she can contact you.)

  4. I think all the answers so far are great, but ion relation to PNR, I think it is to find their soulmate. They want to find the one person that completes them and that they can't live without. That man will see her for everything she is because he can't say no to her. No matter what she looks like, he will always be ready and willing for her and make sure she is always satisfied. He will also compliment her by being everything she needs in her life.

  7. I agree with the other answers. I know I read PNR because the lead women are strong and independent, and the mate they find usually challenges them and keeps things interesting, while loving them unconditionally. Us ladies want a strong man that takes care of business, but lets us shine with our strengths as well.
