Saturday is her progress report.

Now, onto her books!
Ella Reynolds knew from the first moment she walked into the old house someone or something was watching her. Waiting. Her husband's violent murder sent her spiraling into a world of grief and isolation, but Ella isn't alone. Who or what is responsible for her husband's death is still with her. Darkness has engulfed the past year of Ella's life. Everyday reality slips a little more between her fingers as she struggles to break free from her memories. She must look deeper into her past as well as the present to discover truth of her husband's homicide. A string of uncanny events takes place and practical explanations run thin as Ella follows the terrifying road to closure. As the past and present come to a head, Ella must decipher who or what the murderer is before it takes her as well.

Dark Corners was released in June.

Lisa: I was intrigued with the first line of this book and could not tear myself away. I’ve read countless reviews of people who could not put it down and read into the wee hours of the night. I was one of them! Was this your first attempt at writing a novel, Liz?

Liz: Hello, Lisa. Thank you for having me. I am so excited to be here. Yes, this was my first attempt. It went through several rewrites before it ever made it to a book.

Lisa: One reviewer compared you to Edgar Allan Poe, Alfred Hitchcock, Earnest Hemmingway, and Agatha Christie. I have to agree. How do you feel about being compared to the ‘Greats’ in American Literature?

Liz: Ummm, it feels premature. Those are all people I aspire towards, but not a level of writing I feel like I have reached. Hopefully, if people see similarities, I am doing something right.

Lisa: I’ve also heard a rumor that Ella and Gabriel are discussing another appearance! Of course, I was excited to hear that! Comments?

Liz: Maybe. I don’t know what it will be, but there is a good possibility.

DREAM ON~ AN ANTHOLOGY OF DREAMS
Dreams are the place we escape. Nothing is impossible in a dream.. Sometimes dreams are light and fun, full of childish flights of fancies. Other times they are adrenaline fueled surrealistic adventures. You can't forget the terrifying nightmares, that wake you up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. This anthology will explore all these types of dreams. And then some.

Lisa: You’ve also participated in this anthology that will be released in November. Tell us about this book and your experience with it.

Liz: This is an anthology being released by 4 Corners Press. Each story either features a dream or is a product of a dream had by the author. There are a wide-variety of authors participating. Everything from horror to paranormal romance will be included. My story falls into the horror category and is called, The Visitor.

Lisa: Another secret…You also had another short story picked up by an anthology. Tell us about that!

Liz: Yes, I will be included in the Up Close and Evil anthology being released by Hellfire Publishing. My story, Holt’s Horrors and Hoaxes, is about a paranormal investigating television show who occasionally stumbles on to something they can’t quite handle. Expect a lot more from them later. If you like scary clowns, abandoned carnivals, and heart thumping good times, be sure to check this anthology out.

Lisa: And now, for my very favorite secret of all…SECRETS!
While Olivia Martin observed life through her camera, the abyss gazed back at her. She discovers mysterious men follow her around, people close to her are dying, and her dreams are no longer her own as she falls head over heels for a perfect stranger. A chance encounter leads to an obsession that could destroy everything she has ever known or loved. Olivia is about to find out there is a lot she doesn't know and sometimes what you don't know can kill you.

Lisa: Secrets will be released in November and I don’t think I can rave about this book enough. I was hooked! My main question is how do you feel about how famous this book is going to make you?

Liz: Ahahaha, Lisa, you are so funny and good for my ego. I don’t know that anyone is ever ready for fame, but I am pretty certain I have a while to go. I hope people will like Secrets as much as I have enjoyed writing this series.

Lisa: One thing that is not a secret, is how I feel about Holden! *My heart pitter-patters as I await the next book* He’s a total bad-boy and I could NOT get enough of him. Tell me some of his secrets!

Liz: Holden has many secrets. None of which he would be pleased about me sharing. But I will share the very first excerpt of Secrets with you and your readers.

“I pushed my way out of the door and directly into a person trying to walk in. The man was an immoveable wall and nearly crushed me as I smashed into him and stumbled backwards.

"Sorry," I muttered, then squeezed past, not at all deterred. The cool night air hit my lungs at the same time a hand grabbed my arm.

I jumped, startled, and my feeling of claustrophobia melted into extreme annoyance. I glared and intense green eyes returned my stare, drilling into me as if I was both offensive and intriguing.

"I said I was sorry." I pulled my arm from his grasp. My eyes, however, stayed locked to his.
The man shook his head and took half a step towards me. I nearly turned and ran, but my stubborn feet wouldn’t move.  For as intimidating as he was, there was something that held me in place. Maybe it was the disproportional irritation on his face that I found fascinating. Maybe it was the flicker of life behind his cold, dead eyes that made him seem interesting. Or maybe I had a concussion from running into him. Whatever it was, my body felt it warranted further investigation. One thing was for sure—I couldn't predict what this man was going to do, and that made my heart race in anticipation.    The man sized me up, his gaze slowly traveling up and down my body. I thought about saying something snide, but aggression wasn't really my thing. Instead, I returned the favor and inspected him in the same manner.  His face was comprised of classic, traditionally handsome features: a straight Roman nose, full lips, sharp cheekbones and a strong jaw. His hair was dark and short, and his body hard, almost militant. His eyes may have been a little close set and his legs slightly bowed, but they all seemed minor details. It was his intense, unrelenting expression that stood out.

When his eyes connected with mine once more, a slight smirk twitched on his stoic face then vanished without a trace.”

Lisa: Thank you so much for sharing that Liz! I just have two more questions. As you know, I’m planning on self-publishing at the end of this month. Do you have any suggestions or advice on that?

Liz: My advice is to just take the plunge. Make sure you are putting out a strong project you love and start building your platform as soon as possible.

Lisa: Okay, last question but a very important one. How do you feel about Dr. Pepper?

Liz: I think he probably isn’t a real doctor.

Lisa: Thanks so much for sharing your secrets with me, Liz!
